Our Secondary School

Students learning in the Secondary School program

In Secondary School, students are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their education and their actions. They work closely with teachers to set personal goals and expectations. Our small-group and individualized instruction continues, with a strong focus on building self-awareness and self-advocacy.

All students are evaluated for admission into our secondary program, as it differs from our elementary program in class size, structure, and expectations. While the specific books and math concepts may vary, all students develop the foundational skills needed to succeed in secondary education and beyond.

English / Literature

Students work independently and collaboratively to strengthen reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills. Literature is introduced with strong instructional support to help students connect content to the real world. Instruction is differentiated so that every learner is challenged and supported. While reading material may vary, all students continue developing strong literacy and vocabulary skills.

Math

Through small-group instruction and independent practice, students strengthen their mathematical understanding using an engaging and flexible curriculum. Teachers use hands-on activities and real-world applications to support comprehension, ensuring students build the skills needed to succeed at higher levels.

Social Studies

Our secondary students explore global cultures, world history, and U.S. history through an engaging digital curriculum. Lessons include interactive activities, multimedia resources, and leveled text that encourage deeper understanding and curiosity about the world.

Science

Students continue developing scientific curiosity while building strong foundational knowledge through a standards-aligned curriculum. Instruction includes hands-on activities, experiments, and projects that emphasize observation, analysis, and communication skills.

Technology

Technology plays an essential role in our secondary program. Students are required to bring a personal device (such as an iPad or small laptop) to use throughout the school day. Digital tools enhance engagement, provide access to curriculum resources, and support skill-building in research, organization, and communication.

Teachers also utilize interactive whiteboards and digital resources to enrich instruction and bring lessons to life.
